This beautifully architect temple attracts huge devotees from in and around Kolhapur. Goddess Mahalaxmi also known, as Amba Bai.Chalukya ruler, Karandev started the construction of this temple in the 7th century AD and later beautified by Shilahara Yadavas in the ninth century. The idol has not been fashioned by any human being but exists in its natural form - a primeval monolith of uncut diamonds and precious stones.
Rankala Lake is said to be the oldest of all lakes in Maharashtra. There is the Rankabhairav temple at the center of the lake. Its name is derived from this temple. It is situated in beautiful round shape behind the Shalini Palace. In monsoon season you can see amazing overflow of water. You can also see many migrated birds in this area.
Shalini palace was built in 1931-34in Kolhapur. It It is surrounded by palm trees and lovely garden. was named was named after Princess Shrimant Shalini Raje. Palace is built up of carved black stones and has a huge tower clock. Currently this palace is converted in to three star hotel.
Built in 1884, it is also known as the Maharaja's New Place. The first floor is for the present Maharaja, while the ground floor is dedicated to a fine collection of costumes, weapons, games, jewellery, embroidery and paraphernalia such as silver elephant saddles.Shahaji Chhatrapati Museum is in the New Palace.
After defeating Kolhasur & other devils; the goddess of health, wealth & prosperity Mahalaxmi (Ambabai) decided to settle in Kolhapur (Karveer). For the complete defense of her empire, she appointed four guards at the four sides of Kolhapur (Karveer). Among these four guards; the most important is Jotiba; to whom Mahalaxmi (Ambabai) appointed at the northern side. Jotiba is even known as Kedareshwar. The almighty; God Jotiba; is the king of southern region; thus known as “Dakkahancha Raja”.
Panhala Fort forms the largest of all the Deccan forts. This fort was built between the 1178-1209 AD, this is the only fort where the great ruler himself, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is believed to have spent more than 500 days. A few kilometers away is the Raj Dindi. This place offers mesmerizing views of the nearby valleys. The land is an ideal trekking destination too.

Kaneri Math is holy place with a Shiva temple.[1] It is believed that a Shivling was installed by a Lingayat Priest on a beautiful hill in the 14th century. The temple is beautiful and peaceful with a huge Nandi. About 500 years ago, a Lingayat Priest Shree Kadsiddheshwar Maharaj developed and renovated it and hence the place is now known by his name.
